Swindle, Urb, Vice, Paper, and Spin are just a few publications that have featured Dan Monick’s photography over the years.
Most known for his portraits of musicians, Dan is able to capture the personalities of his subjects in an honest and sincere way. Perhaps this is due to his background as a musician. His raw and classic imagery feels much more like a conversation than a portrait. Atmosphere, Daft Punk, Kings of Leon, Murs and Dangermouse are just a few of the many musicians he has photographed in his career. Unlike the stark studio shots used so many times in fashion photography, Dan works in a more documentary fashion that evokes the feeling of a real moment being captured.
